My good friend Steve Mazan‘s film “Dying to Do Letterman” is premiering at the San Jose Cinequest film festival (March 4-8). For those of you who don’t know Steve, he and I started doing comedy together in San Francisco with Mort Sahl at the hungry i .
Six years ago he was diagnosed with incurable cancer. But Steve is also incurably determined and stubborn so he decided he not only was going to be on Letterman but he would document it as well. He set out to show people that with hope, determination, and a steady diet of Reese’s Big Cups anything was possible. I was fortunate enough to be at the LA premier, and the film is intimate, touching, and inspirational. With out reservation it is the funniest cancer movie ever made. In my big screen debut, I do an exceptionally convincing job of playing Steve’s friend Lee. I think I nailed it.
We’re doing a Stand Up benefit for the Canary Foundation at the San Jose Improv on March 2nd before the festival:
Get your tickets here: http://dyingtodoletterman.eventbrite.com/
For tickets to see the film at Cinequest: http://www.cinequest.org/event_view.php?eid=1504
Get there. It’s worth it. The Canary benefit we’ll be fantastic, if you’ve never been to the San Jose Impov, it’s a beautiful room. I think the lineup will be amazing.
Teaser alert! I can’t say the exact line up but let’s just say there will be special guests.
